Need to really relax? Then book an Acupressure Massage with A Healing Touch!

Acupressure works in the same way as acupuncture but no needles are used. Acupressure works directly with the body’s energy flow or qi, the same as acupuncture that uses needles.

Since ancient times there is a belief and truth that all illnesses are as a result of the natural flow of energy through the body becoming stuck, depleted or weakened and thus making the individual susceptible to illness.
Accupressure small

Acupressure benefits the balance of qi through the treatment of specific acupoints known as trigger points to release the body related to symptoms or illness at present. Acupressure Treatment is effective in removing these energy obstructions. Each point is pressed and held by thumb and finger pressure for anything up to 90 seconds, you may experience a slight bruising sensation due to the blood flow being restricted which causes knots in our body and this is where the chi is blocked. It works by producing more oxygen into that point where blood can then circulate better around the body and create the healing process that our bodies are capable of achieving through it’s meridians that governs the whole of the body’s systems.

An acupressure massage with A Healing Touch will leave you feeling revitalised for sure!

Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. It dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C.

People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

The cups can be made of:

Glass – I use glass cupping where it is dunked in surgical spirit on a cotton ball and flamed into the glass to add suction to the skin
Bamboo
Earthenware
Silicone – I , also, use silicone cupping that is done with a manual pump

Side Effects

Cupping is fairly safe, as long as you go to a trained health professional. But you could have these side effects in the area where the cups touch your skin:

Mild discomfort
Burns
Bruises -these may sound painful but it is usually the fact that internal toxins are pulled up to the skin’s surface
Skin infection

Is Cupping Safe?

A full consultation would be carried out like with other treatments.

Manual Lympathic Drainage Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

We have lymph nodes in the body and it works like blood flow by sourcing out the good and bad nutrients so it can remove waste and toxins. It is important for the circulation system and the immune system. With its clever process, it stops harmful fluid from sitting on the tissues. So it does rely on us to eat the right things and have the correct nutrients in the body and exercise. Because it does not have its own pump like the heart that pumps blood around the body you have to keep active in order for the system to work and this is where lymphatic drainage massage can help too. So in a nutshell it is about fluid retention. Yoga can also help with the lymphatic and drinking lots of fluids.

So Where Are The Lymph Nodes?

The lymph nodes are spread throughout the body and are commonly found in the abdomen, arms, and legs the main nodes are under the clavicle to really get rid of toxins as this is nearest the heart. The whole idea in the treatment is to promote movement like any other massage treatment but the idea is for it to support the immune system and enable the fluid so it can be drained from the lymph nodes and the water has somewhere to go. It is a very gentle form of massage always working towards the heart.

Conditions That Lymphatic Drainage Can Help With?

Lymphedema- lymph means fluids around the tissue and oedema means swelling.
Pregnancy - Due to the feet, hands or face swelling during pregnancy lymphatic drainage helps to push this fluid back to the heart, and it is very important to not receive massage until after the first 12 weeks. After this time there are fewer complications that can go wrong during the first few weeks of pregnancy.
Lymphadenectomy (Removal of the lymph nodes).
Fat removal and cellulite – Having a lymphatic drainage massage help remove waste and toxin from the body perfect way to kick-start any new diet and generally improve skin conditions.
Wrinkles - Because you are dealing with the circulation it improves the condition of the skin.

Myofascia Release

Myofascia Release

Myofascial Release has been proven to be a great way of treating the body. It is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps most structures within the human body, including muscle. Fascia supports and protects these structures.

Myofascia Release is said to be effective in the treatment of muscle aches and pains, headaches and migraines, arthritis, whiplash, scar tissue damage, depression, emotional conditions, poor circulation, low immune system, IBS and digestive disorders, anxiety and stress and insomnia but is in no way limited to this list!
Myofascia Release Small

Our therapist will gently massage the myofascia and feel for stiff or tightened areas. Normal myofascia should feel pliable and elastic. The therapist will begin massaging and stretching the areas that feel rigid with light manual pressure. The therapist then aids the tissue and supportive sheath in releasing pressure and tightness. The process is repeated multiple times on the same trigger point and on other trigger points until the therapist feels the tension is fully released. These areas where the massage therapist is working may not be near where the pain originates or where you feel the pain most prominently. Myofascial release works the broader network of muscles that might be causing your pain. It tries to reduce tension throughout your body by releasing trigger points across a broad section of your muscular system.
